Testimonials

A few of us from work tried Maru for lunch, and were blown away by this place. A walk inside the front door of the restaurant, located in a nondescript strip mall, reveals a bright, airy, and contemporary interior, unlike any in the neighborhood. The sophisticated atmosphere hints at what you will find on Maru's extensive menu. Do you want to try contemporary Korean fare? Its there. Is sushi what you are hankering for? Check. Perhaps a bento box lunch? Several are offered.

Lunch has its own menu, including a bargain of two sushi rolls for $8! That is 16 pieces of sushi...more than enough for a hearty appetite. About 8 types of sushi are available for that price, or you can venture onto the other sushi and sashimi menus for an expanded variety.

I tried the Korean spicy squid meal, which featured an ample portion of squid stir fried with veggies in a moderately spicy red sauce and served with steamed rice and 3 veggies served on the side (seasoned bean sprouts, broccoli and kimchee). It was both delicious and filling.

Lunches will run from $8 to about $15. Dinners start at about $15. One item on the menu, the chefs special sushi meal, is over $100, so you can splurge if that is your desire. A full bar is available, and the have happy hour specials daily. Service was friendly and informative, but not rushed. This is the sort of restaurant where people linger over their meals, and the serving staff appreciates that fact.

This place is off to a great start in a part of town that has really expanded its ethnic offerings but is short on higher end "destination" restaurants. Maru is a destination restaurant. It is worth a drive to dine on the Asian delicacies found within.

We love Maru, the staff is so friendly and make you feel like family. The food is awesome. The Yachae Chicken is our favorite. From time to time they have cucumber kimchi that is just to die for. The only thing we miss is some of their other side dishes that they haven't been doing since they reopened. Give it a try....you'll love it.

I've been there a few times now since it changed from HKK to Maru. There was a bit of a rough patch at the beginning, the food has always been excellent, but the service was still finding it's footing. Tonight, however, I think I can safely say everyone is beyond up to speed. Our meal was excellent. The sushi chef sent out a special roll to our table, which we enjoyed immensely. All of our sushi was excellent, and the Korean food was as good as ever. We were also served a good variety of banchan. We had three people, and we each ended up with a different selection. I had the bibim nangmyun, which is always excellent, and my boyfriend had tha jjajangmyun, which was also very good. The Green Zone possibly the best vegetarian sushi platter in Omaha!

By far the best Korean in town! I loved it when it was Han Kuk Kwan but the service atrocious (refer to my HKK review). Now it has been completely gutted and renovated, the restaurant looks very clean and classy.

The first time I had the beef bulgogi which was OK. A bit bland for my liking. Then I tried the burning pork which is my personal favorite. Their kimchi is delish and other sides are great with the entree.

The service also has been drastically improved and the staff is very friendly and prompt. After all the changes they have made to this place, it is the best Korean restaurant in Omaha by a mile.
